Welcome to the SGHS Class of 1974 website!   If you
would like to sponsor one month or more ($13.00 a
month) to help maintain the class website, please send
cash or a check to Bonnie Harlan at Two Dunnam
Lane, Houston, Texas 77024.  I will be happy to
acknowledge your contribution on the website.
Remember, we all benefit from the news and updates
in the website!  Thanks in advance for your help!

I also  want to thank everyone who has sent in
personal updates and photos.  It makes the website
much more interesting!  Please send any new
information such as telephone and address changes,
e-mail address changes, photos, and class updates to
Bonnie Odem Harlan at
Bkharl@aol.com.
**  Wow!  I am sorry this update has taken so long!  I started working on my
Masters in Liberal Arts at Houston Baptist University (HBU) and it has
taken up all of my free time!  In fact, I just completed a Study Abroad trip
to London in June where we visited Stratford on Avon where Shakespeare
lived, as well as Oxford, Canterbury, and all the major London sites. We
also studied and saw several Shakespeare plays at the Globe Theatre.  This
past year I also traveled to Chicago (met Oprah at a party), New York,
Boston, Tucson, San Diego, San Francisco, etc. We just spent a wonderful
month in Nantucket. My two older kids just turned 21. Chase is a senior at
the University of Arizona and Alexandra is a senior at the University of
Houston.  Cole (15) is in 10th grade and plays football and basketball for
Memorial High School. See pictures on Photos - 1.

**  Many thanks to those who have sent me your updates.  If I have forgotten
any, please resend them to me at
Bkharl@aol.com. Please review the Alumni
Contacts and let me know if you have a correct e-mail address or telephone
number for any alumni who has information missing. Also, please check
your information to verify it is accurate. Thanks!

** Our heartfelt condolences go out to several classmates who have lost a
parent recently. Nancy Rollins Stone's mother, Jackie Foster, passed away
in June.  David Vonderheid's dad, Martin Vonderheid, passed away in May.
He was very involved in the community and was well-known as an avid
youth sports coach, having coached many of our classmates at one time or
another. Joan Turner's mom, Ruth Turner, died in February. Ruth had a lot
of patience with the gatherings at her house over the years!  Donna Boyd's
father also passed away in February. Mr. Boyd was also well known for
coaching high school baseball. Pam Shaw Scallia's mother, Joyce Shaw,
and Joanne Jones, the mother of Julie Jones, both died in May 2006.

** Our deepest sympathies are with Mark Fuqua whose brother, Lance
Fuqua (53), died recently.

**  Barbara Zabojnik Rahmig has been living the good life lately as she
and her husband, Ken, have been traveling a lot on their boat, "Livin the
Dream". Ken recently semi-retired and they plan to spend almost four
months a year traveling, fishing, and living on their fabulous boat. They
spent most of the summer in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and the Florida Keys.
See pictures on Photos - 1.

** Vanessa Ray Orr and David Orr welcomed their first grandchild, Avery
Melissa Orr, on September 28, 2006. The proud parents are Brad and Jenny
Orr. See photo of Avery on Photos - 1. Van and David's daughter, Melissa,
will be getting married in September.

** Congratulations to Joe Dirik who has recently joined the Dallas office of
Fulbright and Jaworski!  Way to go, Joe!

** Janis Blain Harrington has been living in Mississippi since 1985. She
has been married to her second husband, Charlie, for 19 years. She has four
children, April (27), Les (25), Paul (18), and Emily (17), as well as two
adorable granddaughters.

** Candy Scheid Pugh and her family moved to Fort Worth last summer for
her husband's (Cole) new position as Superintendent of Eagle-Mountain
Saginaw ISD. Congratulations to Candy who recently completed her
Masters Degree! See picture on Photos - 1.
